La Rumba Buena

First, to everyone reading this, thank you for such an incredible year. When we started Rumba we never could have envisioned going into our tenth year (!!!) on such a high. La vida te da sorpresas (and Rumba continues to be a beautiful one). This month, to celebrate the season and the end of the year, we are joined by not one, but TWO Toronto salsa legends.

We’re honoured to have Giovanni Torres aka DJ Gio playing his FIRST Rumba ever (long overdue!). Gio was born and raised in Medellin, Colombia, surrounded by salsa music, teaching, and dancing, and he’s been sharing his passion with the world for over 30 years.

In his words, “Djing and teaching is my passion, collecting great Latin music has been my hobby for many years…I play from my heart and feel the music I play. I envision myself dancing, and therefore, I envision others dancing to their fullest.”

Not to be outdone, we have Rumba family and “your favourite dancer’s favourite DJ”, DJ Timber back in the house. If you’ve experienced a Timber set before, you KNOW the love and joy radiating off him while he plays is infectious. And don’t sleep on his new Salsa Fresh Sounds series (every Friday on his IG - spreading that musical love).
